I also had the privledge of photograping Amanda’s parents and her sister, Tricia, with baby Kurt as well. It was such a pleasure to have them join in on the shoot, and a first for me! I can’t imagine how I would have felt, having the opportunity to have professional photos taken of me with Soren when he was just a couple of weeks old (although we did have my camera laying around ;) but you know what I mean!)  I was so happy to be able to document these memories for them, and enjoyed getting to know them, too. Double bonus!  It goes without saying (becuase pictures speak a thousand words) that this little boy is oh-so loved.

I was so excited to finally be able to meet Teresa and Charlie. It’s rare that clients will book without meeting you first, or having some sort of a Skype date, but it’s an honor when they do. They obviously love your work enough to book you immediately, and trust your business and your process enough to not second guess their decision. So it’s easy to say, that right away, I adored them :)

We started this shoot off at the gorgeous Wit hotel over on State Street where we were welcomed with open arms and led straight to their rooftop terrace. It was so pretty (and so windy), and quite honestly, I didn’t have to give them hardly any of my usual “prep pep talk” We just fell right into snapping photos, laughing about anything and everything (You saw the photos! So much laughing!) and talking about all of the little wedding details in between. We ventured inside to escape the wind for a bit, and over a few cocktails got to know one another. This is why I love my job, you guys. In the middle of a work day, I get to take beautiufl pictures, relax and make new friendships, hear all about how two people fell in love, and end the work day with more beautiful pictures. Pinch me ;)

From the Wit, we spent our time venturing around downtown. Capturing images in front of some of their favorite buildings, taking short walks that turned into new locations, over and over and over again until we ended up over by Lake Street to take in the city noises of the trains. It was the perfect day, spent with two amazing people who I feel so grateful to be working with this fall.

Teresa and Charlie, thank you so much for your trust and open arms! I look forward to documenting this amazing journey for the two of you, and creating timeless memories for you both. xo

I had the pleasure of meeting Sara and Brian when I was shooting Tessa and Mike’s wedding last August. I remember she approached me behind one of the tables that I had been keeping my gear, and as I was changing out batteries, she asked me for one of my cards. She was interested in having her daughter, Addy, photographed, and from that sentence I was hooked. You see, Addy was the flower girl at Tessa and Mike’s wedding, (still so in love with this one!) and she was basically just too cute for words. As a photographer, sometimes we see things, or people, and just know we have to get them in front of our camera and capture the magic they’re spilling out. Addy was one of those (little) people for me.

* The bonus? Tessa came to join in on the photo shoot! Love catching up with past clients, especially ones as sweet as Tess.

The afternoon was filled with endless play. That’s my favorite thing about photographing littles. You just play. There’s no real pressure, you’re simply letting them know you’re one of the good guys by participating in Mrs. Potato Head and random dance parties to “Papa Shark” and “Mama Shark” – or in Addy’s case, the Blackhawks theme song. (little lady loves her hockey) We spent time in the living room adoring her as she found such joy in cutting her play-fruit, we moved over to the kitchen while we all talked amongst each other as Addy munched on her favorite snack of goldfish and water, we ventured outside to play with her sweet dog Bailey and her Red Flyer wagon, and capped off the afternoon by reading a book that she just about knows by heart, Whacky Wednesday. All in all, it was the sweetest afternoon.

Sara and Brian, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to document the magic of your beautiful daughter, and for welcoming me into your home with open arms. I hope these images serve as a timeless memory of Addy as a vivacious, sweet little two year old. I had the best time! xx
