ENGAGED // KATIE + RICK

The sky was dark, their hearts were full. Their sheets intertwined and their voices naturally fell to whispers, just soft enough for one another to hear. It was one of those nights that filled with converastion. The kind of converastion that has you remembering exactly why you fell in love with the person beside you. An effortless back and forth exchange of emotion and breaks of natural silence flooded their walls that no dobut would be talking back, if they could. Saying things such as, “this is what real love sounds like.”

…and all of a sudden, the person that she loved, was leaving her side. He explained within one quick breath, “I’ll be right back.” Pure confusion flooded Katie’s mind as she reminded him just how late it was. She was caught off guard that in the middle of such a filling conversation, Rick was on some sort of a mission. With light pestering for him to come back to bed, that whatever he was doing could wait until the morning, she made out his shadow in the door way as he stood so proud and still. Immediately, she knew. The words that had moments before filled her heart with love, were no longer necessary. That conversation, it had triggered something in him that made him sure that this moment, this woman.. he had to make her his forever. Shyly asking her to sit up (overlooking the fact that she was cute as could be cozied up in her pajamas or the major fact that she was without her contacts) he got down on one knee, opened up the box that to her was only a blur, and he declared his love. Changing her life forever.

She may not have been able to see the ring perfectly, but she could feel the fit… and it was just right.

Meet, Katie and Rick…

ENGAGED // MATT + CALLIE

Callie and Matt are two of my favorite people. It’s a fact. From the moment I met them at the Starbucks Coffee tucked sweetly on the corner of Lincoln and Wilson, I knew I had to work with them. And alas, here they are – playing in front of my camera at my favorite spot, Emerson Creek Pottery, with a natural ease that will have you wondering… have they done this before? ;)

These two have the kind of love story that one hopes to be able to relay to younger generations. It’s perfectly romantic – a story about pursuit and confidence. Assurance and readiness for what lies ahead. An an eagerness for the rest of your life to start as soon as possible, now that you’ve found the one. They met at the Kentucky Derby. Matt posted up across the room, eyes locking to Callie’s blonde hair and sweet nature. He couldn’t help but watch her and she struggled (so cutely) to fill up her beverage. This was his opportunity. He was drawn to her, and nothing could break his focus on the girl who, without speaking a word, had him sure that she was worth the confrontation. Within minutes he had her laughing (I can attest to the fact that he is one funny guy) and his decision to approach her was one of his best, yet. Then comes the moment we all hate – that moment when you meet someone who has this electric pull.. someone you don’t want to leave, but the reality that your friends are breaking off to the left, while his are breaking off to the right.. well, they might as well stomp on your heart in that moment and tell you that you just can’t have your cake and eat it too. Ain’t love grand?! But before he let her go, you of course know that a meet up was coordinated to happen in the very near future. After all, this was no ordinary conversation. This was the conversation that just opened doors that would soon change their lives. So with one last surge of confidence, he asked for her number.

And as if he wouldn’t remember the way he felt about her in this moment, just to be safe, he plugged in Callie’s name with a little somethin’ extra… Callie (Date Her) – now how’s that for a heavy dose of charm? ;)

Meet, Callie and Matt…

SOREN // NINE MONTHS

He’s almost nine months! Nine months and I’m more in love with him every day. My little nephew, Soren, is hands down my favorite person to photograph – so every time we’re together I’m always requesting an impromptu session. My sister never argues :) So much has changed with his demeanor within the past 30 days since I saw him last. He’s still as sweet as ever, but now when he “talks” he sounds so much more like a little boy rather than an infant. His two little chicklet teeth that popped up on his bottom gums are melt-worthy, and he turns the pages of books with complete and utter perfection. I’m in awe of him, and watching him grow is by far, one of my favorite things. Take a look into one of the sweetest personalities that I have the privledge of loving, day in and day out.
