They met in college.
But it wasn’t what you’re thinking. Samantha? She knew what she wanted from day one. She felt this pull towards him. A pull that she wasn’t willing to give up on, but she wasn’t willing to beg for, either. Most of you are probably thinking, “Is he crazy? Look at her! How could he resist?” (I know I was!) She’s a tiny little thing with eyelashes that kill, and one of the purest hearts. She’s filled to the brim with love, this one.
But David? He just needed time. Time to realize that everything that he had been looking for, was right in front of him. Sometimes, the one thing that you never knew you wanted, is the only thing you need. And this guy, both perfectly humored and down to earth, needed this brown eyed girl.
Years later, and the support system these two have built is like a (really lovely) brick wall. It’s sturdy, and its sturdy because it was built from scratch. Right from the ground, with their bare hands, from the heart. Which can only mean one thing; its unbreakable. They’ve withstood distance that most of us have never even heard of, and that most of our hearts could never tolerate. Samantha in California, David in the Middle East. Both withholding their individuality, but still looking their future straight in the eye. No blinking, no fear.
I feel so grateful to not only have been referred to Sam and David through a high school friend, but to have had the privilege to document their love in one of my favorite locations: Malibu, California. Shooting in such a beautiful place collided with two beautiful people, inside and out, makes for images that left me breathless. The ability to capture a love so honest and real, and a friendship so solid and playful.. I tell you what, I’m often having to pinch myself just to make sure that what I’m doing, feeling, witnessing… isn’t all a dream.
Samantha and David, I feel so lucky to have met the two of you! Your ability to let me in on the love that you’ve created, and to be so natural and at ease in front of the camera made this trip so memorable for me. So thank you for giving me the opportunity to document such a monumental time in your lives :) I assure you, the pleasure was all mine. xoxo
